Highlighters are commonly used for marking and emphasizing text or important information in documents, textbooks, and notes. There are primarily two types of highlighters:
Liquid or Liquid Ink Highlighters: Liquid highlighters, also known as liquid ink highlighters, are the more traditional type of highlighter. They consist of a container filled with a liquid ink that is visible through a transparent or translucent tip. When you apply them to paper, the ink is absorbed by the paper, and it dries relatively quickly. Liquid highlighters often come in a variety of colors, with yellow and pink being the most common. They are known for their vibrant and translucent colors, making it easy to see the text beneath the highlighting.
Dry or Dry-Style Highlighters: Dry-style highlighters are a relatively newer type of highlighter. They are also referred to as "gel highlighters" or "wax highlighters." Unlike liquid highlighters, dry highlighters use a solid, waxy, or gel-like substance to mark text. They are designed to glide smoothly over paper without bleeding through or smudging the ink or text beneath. Dry-style highlighters are available in various colors and are often retractable or twist-up, similar to mechanical pencils. They do not dry out like liquid ink highlighters, which can be a benefit for long-term use.
